I’m reinstalling from binaries/sources rather than using the image in order to move over to BerryBoot, and I’ve run into a problem.

I have “start EmulationStation on boot” turned on from the setup script, but it’s failing to start. When the system logs in, it returns an error reading:

    lvl0: Error initializing SDL!

    Unable to open mouse!

Are you in the 'video, audio, and input groups? Is X closed? Is your firmware

up to data? Are you using at least the 192/64 memory split?
    `Error initializing rendererer!

Of course I checked that I was in all the stated groups and all that. I also checked that “export SDL_NOMOUSE=1 is set in my .bashrc file. I’m not sure what else is happening here.

I can launch EmulationStation perfectly normally from the command line once the system has finished booting up.

    Any ideas?

Maybe you are also facing the same issue as described at https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/175.
