I used ssh to terminal to the retro pi and used sudo shutdown now and it seems to have frozen on this black screen. Is it ok to just pull the plug on this screen?

I noticed when selecting shutdown from the menu it says HALT instead of maintenance mode. Then it turns off.

You could try the code sudo shutdown -h now the -h is where the halt thing comes from.

Or another option is sudo poweroff – that’s what I tend to use.
