Does the installation script write a new boot image to the linux install? I have read that in setup you can specify not to run it from bootup, so im wondering if the install script just downloads and installs the needed binaries, or if it actually makes a new binary image that is written and overwrites the existing one.

I currently have raspbmc installed with xbmc as my bootup app. What I want to do is install retropie to the system, and load it through xbmc plugins than load xbmc back up once emulationstation is closed out, but I am not familiar with how the system works. I have an in-depth installation of raspbmc right now and don’t want to risk installing retropie until I know it won’t affect the installation of my existing setup.
