Just wondered if anyone had seen this?
64-bit and 1.2GHz.. what kind of speed improvements would we be looking at if these rumours are true and the RAM stays at 1GB?
its not a rumor, will be released 29th feb
it will have onboard bluetooth and wifihere is some info from a swedish site
http://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/21794-raspberry-pi-3-far-inbyggt-wifi-och-bluetoothWith the accepted new stats on the Raspberry Pi 3, is this enough of an upgrade to make new system inclusion viable, or at least enhanced performance on some of the weaker performing ones now?
My best guess would be that they’re using a quadcore Cortex-A53 cluster. This should provide a rather sizeable performance increase over the Pi 2. The A53 is at least 30% faster at the same frequency compared to the A7. Coupled with a 33% frequency increase, this would yield more than 70% better single thread performance. :)
What is a 64Bit ARM7? A Cortex A7 is a 32Bit ARMv7 core. A Cortex A53 is a 64Bit ARMv8 core. There is nothing in between.
Well, the rumor ended up true. I just ordered my Pi 3! Should be arriving tomorrow. :-)
No confirmation yet on the exact CPU core, but it is a 1.2GHz quad core as rumored.

Price is the same as the old one. 1.2GHz quadcore Cortex-A53 with 64-bit support, as speculated.

As did i :)
Not sure if the Pi2 image will work with this but its worth a try.
Should receive it tomorrow.
I’m sure that even if it doesn’t work (which I sort of expect) it should be very quickly resolved as I am sure the Raspbian people will have it up and running in no time. From there it should be a “short trip” for Retropie but I am no programmer so…
