    Hi.

Here is a video splashscreen I made for my setup:

    Boot Video

I was going for a seamless transition from splashscreen to the ES logo and I think it worked out quite nice if I dare say so myself!

The sound quality is bad but that is my phone doing that – it sounds perfect in real life!

    Cheers.

    Steve

p.s. you may recognise the sound effect from your youth! 😉

    Awesome!

    Could you share it?

PD. I remember the sound effect, but don’t remember from what…

How big is the file? If you like we could also add it to the RetroPie-Artwork repository at

    RetroPie Artwork Repo

edit: Hi Guys, tested this on on 1920×1080 monitors looks great. Tried it on 1920×1200 and it doesnt quite fit you can see the boot text above and black line below. Just wondering is there anyway to make this fit as is? or is it that i need to create one to fit. cheers

It’s not on Dropbox anymore and no one uploaded it to the artwork repositories. Of course unless someone can explain how to use it it’s a moot point.

    Thanks!

I don’t have this boot video- but just FYI video splashscreen support has been integrated into the retropie project by default now starting with 3.0. You can just create a new folder in the splashscreen directory and add your video to it, choose it from the enable splashscreen menu and reboot.

What about uploading it to Youtube (there’s indirect ways to download) or Vimeo?

Would it be possible to make a movie in the 4:3 format?

    Awesome boot video, thanks.

One question, got it working but the video fades to white then I get the linux “last logged in…” etc then emulationstation starts. I have emulationstation set to load on boot. How do I get the nice fade from the white on boot video right into the emulationstation loading screen like the video shows.

    Thanks.!!!

Hi. Sorry for delay in replying.

To allow the video to be interrupted by the Emulation Station loading screen (and prevent the terminal screen appearing), you need to edit a file as described in the Wiki page below:

    https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/splashscreen

Scroll down to the ‘Video Splash Screens’ section at the bottom and it describes everything you need to do.

    Cheers.

Smithers, is there any way you could render your video in 1080? I’m using it currently (as 720) with my own audio edits, but I know it can look more majestic at full resolution on my screen

Thanks in advance if you can!

Thanks for getting back on this.

I modified /etc/profile.d/10-emulationstation.sh where it only contains:

    [ “tty” = “/dev/tty1” ] && emulationstation

But still get the same behavior…video splash then back to terminal (last logged in…) then emulationstation loading screen.

I even tried updating the startup script, reenabling emulationstation start on boot & modifying the 10-emulationstation.sh file again but still same behavior. I verified after reboot that 10-emulationstation.sh is correct per the wiki.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks.

Perhaps make your video a tad longer?
