Ive just mamaged to setup my raspberry pi 2 with retro pie and I’ve got all my emulators working with my Xbox 360 wired pad and I’ve got the save state working all except mame4all. The controller works but I can’t see the option anywhere to save or load a save state in the game? is there a separate keystroke or setting that I have to enable?
As far as I understand it save states aren’t supported with mame but if anyone can prove me wrong I’d be more than happy to know.

I’m new to retropie and i have the same problem.
With advmame is possible save and load but emulation is very slow even with the pi2AnonymousInactive03/04/2015 at 14:25Post count: 3Which mame version are you using and how do you save and load?
To save and load i used advmame with roms version 0.106
So save with f7 and load with shift plus f7.
Advmame has wonderful video option too but is too slow to usemame4all would save them here:
/opt/retropie/configs/mame/stabut I think its too old (based on 0.37b5) to support it.
You would usually use Shift + F7 to save in it.
Floob please help me!
I tried 3 different mame emulators:
1) the first mame, the default mame4all, cant save e cant use dpad
2) advmame is too slow and no way to use it
3) mame libretro, ask me to select a core and other things in a greenish menu. Is that a part of retroarch? Are there instructiins on how to use it?Thank you so very much. This world is so very difficukt for me!

[/quote]This should get mame4all working, and what controller are you using that is having problems?
A popular alternative is to use the FBA emulator to run games as it uses more current romset versions.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pifba/files/Thank you floob for your video and your help. Mame4all cannot save states, so i will use FBA as you suggest.
I tried FBA LIBRETRO, and I can say runs absolutely wonderful with my full 0.2.97.30 romset, which I think it’s more recent than PIFBA romset.
Also CPS3 games like JoJo runs absolutely smooth.
sorry for my english!
