    Hello,

I posted this over in the general questions area but maybe it’s more relevant here. Essentially I’m trying to setup my NES emulator so that the screen rotates/flips with a push of a button when the players turn is over. It’s for a cocktail arcade cabinet I’ve made that is powered by retropie.

I’m convinced there’s a way to do it but I couldn’t find anything in the standard retroarch.cfg options. I don’t believe retropie has anything internally to do it besides setting screen rotation on start up.

I go into more detail here: http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/flipping-the-screen-in-nes-emulator/

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

This may help for screen flipping in MAME:

    Mame4all-pi with PS3 Controller

    Here is a retroarch setting

    # Allows libretro cores to set rotation modes.
    # Setting this to false will honor, but ignore this request.
    # This is useful for vertically oriented content where one manually rotates the monitor.
    # video_allow_rotate = true

I’ll give it a quick whirl now.

Thanks Floob. I noticed that in retroarch.cfg but though it only applied to whether or not the screen was rotated on start up, not whether or not you want to rotate/flip the screen while the game is running.

I’m curious to see what you find out.

Right – well after 20mins of looking I cant find anything in libretro that will auto flip screen when a player dies. Just a manual method using the RGUI.
Which would mean using the hotkeys to bring up the menu, rotate it, then close menu, about 4 button presses I guess.

Maybe the guys on the libretro forums have more info.

Thanks for looking into it and I’ll try the libretro forums. That’s a good idea.

Yeah, pausing the game and going through the menu each time isn’t the streamlined approach I have imagined.

    Hi Floob,

I’m a bit confused with the retroarch forum. I signed up but received no confirmation. I can log in but don’t have permission to do anything. Am I waiting for someone to confirm my account?

I had an issue with it as well I think, I just signed up again and it seemed ok:
