    First time experience with Retropie, watching a video where it says I have to press F4 to go to the command line (after configuring the butons for my controller). But when I press F4 it shows the raspberry pi login for 3 seconds and then goes back to the main menu (where I can select Apple 2, macintoch, IBM etc.)
    I am using RetroPie 3.0 btw.

    Press f4 twice. Or any other button after you press f4 otherwise it will just automatically reboot back into emulationstation

    Pressing F4 twice or a button after F4 doesn’t work.

    I’ve got a different problem. It takes about 1min for me to get to the commandline after hitting F4. Does anyone else have this issue?

    @shakkill yes it does work. Press F4 to get to a command line, then press space (or any other key) to stay there or it will boot back to ES.

    @momaw27
    yes that does happen some times, I’ve not been able to stop that from happening and I’ve even completely rewritten my ES command script! just live with it, its just a little slow.
