First and foremost, you guys have covered a lot of ground, what is supported is very extensive and I’m looking forward to receiving my Pi in the mail so I can give all this a spin
That said, a couple items that I feel would be a wonderful addition would be ports of the Odamex Source port which stays true to the original DOOM look and feel, but also ads additional features such as a 32-bit display, free look and jump (optional), expanded mapping & scripting features, fine tuned on-line play support complete with Death Match, Capture the Flag, Co-Op, and so on, plus many more features!
This aside, a port of DOOM 64 Ex would also be a wonderful addition if possible as it is a port of the N64 game DOOM 64, but again with expanded features including OpenGL support.
A port of ZDOOM would also be nice as that would open the door to Heretic, Hexen, and Strife, not to mention a plethora of quality expansion wads.06/24/2015 at 18:28 #100598
Just for reference if anyone is capable enough for scripting these:07/05/2015 at 09:12 #101385
Lookie what I found:
Anyone feeling kind enough to add this to Retropie? 😀08/25/2015 at 15:12 #104680
+1 for Brutal Doom support through ports..08/29/2015 at 02:33 #104945
I have compiled a binary for ZDoom and it runs well. I include it on my dual boot build, along with Brutal Doom which runs great on there.
If you’d like a copy of the binary then let me know and I will upload it. It is for Pi2 only.
I also have Crispy-Doom (and Crispy Hexen, Heretic and Strife) binaries pre-built, should you want them. All Pi2 only.09/04/2015 at 16:18 #105414

Smithers, I wouldn’t mind a copy of ZDoom if you’d consider chucking it my way. I’ve been trying to compile it but keep running into errors for some reason. Is all the functionality for Heretic/Hexen/Strife working?
Cheers!09/14/2015 at 20:30 #106083
As would I, thanks I’m going to PM you!09/15/2015 at 02:25 #106096
Sorry, I wasn’t subscribed to this thread so didn’t see your replies! :s
Here is a link to the Zdoom binary I compiled, along with a few wads (the ones I include in my build), and their respective launchers:
All you need to do is extract and copy into your /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/ folder, add in your own doom1 / doom2 wad files into the /zdoom/ folder and select one of the games in Emulation Station. The wadfiles ‘doom.wad’ and ‘doom2.wad’ must be named lowercase for my scripts to work.
*Please note that you may need to install some dependancies before Zdoom will play – visit the GitHub page below and read the readme file for further info:
I haven’t tried Hexen / Heretic / Strife however there is no reason why they shouldn’t work. I use Chocolate Doom for those ports in my builds (just to add extra variations to the ports menu).
All the best.

Thank you very much! I’d have compiled this my self, but I had issues with the dependencies, though I can’t recall what they were right now.
I’ll give this a go, and if I have problems I’ll post them here in hopes that someone will have the time to guide me even further.
Excited!!!09/16/2015 at 02:17 #106165
No probs. Its a good port to have as it opens the door to a ton of good doom mods!09/16/2015 at 03:58 #106168
Well I tried to run Brutal Freedoom but got this instead:
brutal_freedoom2.sh permission denied09/16/2015 at 04:13 #106170
Hmmm… actually now that I installed the depends… nothing will launch. everything on my Pi is now getting this error.
I did a chmod775 on the ZDoom directory and the .sh files. Might that have caused it? By why all the other programs on the Pi as well, I didn’t chmod them.09/16/2015 at 06:53 #106175
Anyone found “The Dark Mod” which used to be a Doom3 spinoff of the original Thief but different…for RetroPie? I’d love to get my 70″ playing Thief (one of the best games ever made)09/17/2015 at 06:22 #106242
The Pi will not be running DOOM 3 let alone the Dark MOD, sorry to say.09/17/2015 at 09:46 #106243
I compiled Odamex, everything compiles but Odalaunch which we don’t need anyhow.
Problem is that it does not want to communicate with the keyboard. Strange.09/17/2015 at 16:30 #106264

Thanks Smithers, that’s just the ticket. Works great, and I’m pleased to say that all the other idTech 1 games and expansions work great too, even the custom ingame selector for the Master Levels!09/25/2015 at 02:34 #106804
Just want to say that all of this is awesome in a big big way! I’d +1 you all if this forum had that functionality…meanwhile I’m itching to get back into these games as I’ve a trip down nostalgia lane to take!
There's always one.09/25/2015 at 03:39 #106806
So it’s confirmed then? The DOOM engine in every shape and form, needs to be a part of RetroPi 4! 🙂
