Hello,
I think I can upgrade my 3.2.1 install to 3.3 using the binary update rather that a fresh install?
If so what happens to my controls in Mame and the Retroarch based emulators as I don’t want to have to set them up again?
Thanks
That’s what Backups are for.
Retroarch.cfg won’t be overwritten, but the main ES config will be, which will cause it to prompt for joypad configuration again – which is a good thing since there are new input configuration scripts that need to be run.
mame settings won’t be overwritten.
Always backup configs first.
Great! is there a command to show what version I am on so I can make sure it’s gone from 3.2.1 to 3.3?
Thanks
There is no internal version number, we just tag the script for each release, but that’s just the script – not the binaries etc. However if you update now, you basically get retropie 3.3 with a few additional fixes. the binaries would be the same as the 3.3 release, but in a few weeks I may update some, so if you updated then, you would get new binaries etc.
you can do “git log” in RetroPie-Setup folder to see the commit log with changes.
Thanks so I just need to update the setup script then run the Binary Installation (recommended option)?
All is updated and I’ve rebooted and my Xbox controllers are no longer connecting to my official Xbox wireless xbox receiver. Jstest show no controllers and I’ve re-installed the xbox drivers, any ideas?
