Hey guys! What is the easiest and cheapest way to set up a safe shutdown button to the RPI running RetroPie?
Is there any way to shutdown the Pi with reset button?

I’ll appreciate your help! I’m pretty new at this and my electronics knowledge is weak.

I use these for all my pi builds and they are great. Has power button, reset button, and external led hookups.

In Emulationstation press f4 on your keyboard and the type sudo halt at the command line. If you don’t have a keyboard attached then bring up the Emulationstation menu with your joypad and Shutdown using the menu.

I use this approach https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/simple-gpio-shutdown-button-no-resistorspythonlibrariesdriverscor-poll/#post-94854. This will not actually switch off the power, but allows you to have a button that boots/shuts down the system nicely so you can remove the power-supply from the wall socket without worrying about the SD card.

total BOM: two wires and a button.
