I used Raspberry + Openelec & Retropie (Works in both) + Hyperion + leds with chip WS2801:

You can follow this tutorial, is easy!

only install Hyperion and Retropie under Openelec and it works immediately ?

    I can’t intall RetroPie under OpenElec 🙁
    Please help

You can install Hyperion in OpeneElec or in Retropie, but if you only want to have this working with the games, forget openelec. Follow this steps with fully working retropie 2.3 image:

    1. Enable SPI module in raspi-config, is in advanced settings. Then reboot.

    2. Install Hyperion as described in tutorial and reboot.

    3. Enjoy!!

This ist the Info I wanted 🙂
Only install hyperion under Retropie and it works

Yes! Don’t forget enabling SPI!!! because this module is disabled in retropie by default…

Actually you can use Retroarch with Openelec and play emulated games directly from Openelec and XBMC.

    Follow this guide:

I have it installed and it works like a charm. The only issue I found was everytime you start a game, you have to configure your controller. Maybe there’s a way to get around this, but I still haven’t found it.

I also have build my Hyperion ambilight set with a USBTV007 EasyCAP capturing my TV output. I want it to capture also the Retroarch but I don’t know what is the priority given to Retroarch for the v4l driver. Can anyone help me?
