Would there be any benefit to set the output of the TV and Retroarchs render resolution to 720p compared to 1080p?

Would this improve input lag compared to render at 720p but TV output at 1080p? I heard that this might cause further input lag due to up scaling.

Would this help with performance at all?

render resolution definitely affects shader performance, but that’s just about the only thing that is GPU-bound i think. for most things, it’s the CPU that is under the most strain. even mupen64plus seems to run the same for me at 1080p as it does 720p.
