    Hey everyone,

    I’m trying to set up a mame cabinet. I will be having a joystick and 4 button setup. It’s a one player setup. My question is what is the minimum number of buttons I will need to add that are extra?

    So required buttons:
    – Up,Down,Left,Right
    – Player buttons 1,2,3,4 (Thats just my setup)

    – Add Coin
    – Exit game
    – Select Game
    – Bring up emulation station menu

    do I have to have all these or can I say map the select game to player 1 button 1?

    What is everyone doing for these?

    Although I don’t have a cabinet I would think the list would be:

    directional buttons
    Minimum of three action buttons (6 if playing fighting games)
    Start
    Insert coin
    Exit

    I think exiting would bring up the emulationstation menu. You definitely need a start and coin button. Select game isn’t needed as its emulationstation you can just map it to one of the action buttons.

    On my xbox controller I have all those mapped anyway.

    I have 6 for gaming.
    1x coin (each player)
    1x on side.
    1x player start
    1x at top.

    So at minimum add 4 additional buttons.
    You will need them for hot keys, exiting, shader swapping etc….

    My 2 player setup has 3 additional buttons each + 1 at top to exit Mame.

    Dpicc….
