    Hi,
I’ve tried many many times to install and re-install RetroPie on 2 different SD cards. Both of them are class 4, one is an 8 Gb SD card, the other one is 16 Gb.
I can setup my joypad (a SNES USB controller) and then RetroPie freezes.
Sometimes I can switch to Dukem Nukem from the start screen (I think is an Apple emulator) but it’s just a matter of time (a few seconds) and RetroPie freeze, freeze and freeze again.
    Have I to give up?
    Someone has the same problem?

Hey mate, are you running overclocked?

are you using a powered usb hub?

are you using an sdimage? 1.5 or 1.6.1? or you build from source?

    Thanks for the questions.
    No, my Raspberry isn’t overclocked.
No, I’m not using a powered usb hub. The keyboard has backlight but, even with only the USB pad plugged, the Raspberry freezes.
    I’ve tried both, 1.5 and 1.6.1 BETA.

No, I didn’t know about it. I’m really sorry.
Is there a simple guide to the update?
I think this is the one you are referring to:
    https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup

How can I open the terminal from RetroPie frontend? (the fastest way)
I hope to open it before Raspberry freeze.

First of all, I would try and test everything without the USB controller being connected.

OK, now everything is working on my 16Gb SD-card. Version 1.6.1 BETA.
I don’t now why. I simply format and re-install another couple of times.
Sorry I can’t tell what was wrong.

Probably the backlight keyboard. Now I plug it in only after the Raspberry has booted up.
