    Update: final version available on my guthub https://github.com/israelperez/retro-gaming/tree/master/theme/video

    remastered audio samples, fixed some crop issues, fixed some timing issues and water marks removed
    ============================================
    Watch the preview on youtube here: https://youtu.be/h33QfsFLlVA

    Note this video is a preview and contains watermarks, its not the final version. Once its ready ill provide a link to the final file. dont use this preview version. on that note anyone know a god place to host a video? lol

    While ive made videos in the past, this is my first attempt at a video splash screen. unfortunately due to the source material i wasnt able to create a 1080p version. instead had to settle for a 1280 x 720 version.

    Timed how long it took for my setup to boot up. about 30 seconds… I wanted to use the video from the 2009 MTV gaming awards intro. really really hard to make it fit when the original is 1min 49sec… managed to get it down to 43secs while keeping the main bits you can watch it on youtube here: https://youtu.be/h33QfsFLlVA

    Im hoping someone somewhere can implement something like this

    Topic: skip video splashscreen prompt once ES is loaded

    so that videos are handled better cause its sometimes impossible to make a video timed perfectly to a setup that can change and is different for everyone

    I like the music, although not a huge fan of credits on the actual product, especially since you did not create the original video.

    Anyways, you could have AutoKey (https://code.google.com/p/autokey/) mapped to a command such as pkill omxplayer which will stop the video if a certain key or key combination is pressed.

    the credits and watermarks were on there because it was a preview. ie not finished. the finished version will be clean of all that. didnt want people to use the unfinished version

    not claiming credit for the source vid or music.. it clearly credits the source video and music in the vid and in the description. still it took 2-3 full days to find the sound effects, and music that would fit, equalize volumes, cut and chop by them, time them, cut and chop the video into different clips, adjust speeds, make it fit a new aspect ratio, make the cuts seem seamless etc. it was still heaps of work. the original vid was 2.5 mins and i got it down to 43sec and in my opinion with more life in it.

    anyway is there a way to tell when the user can press the keys? ie once es is in the system wheels ready to select a system

    Nice job on the finished product.

    There doesn’t appear to be support within ES, but you can use something external to map keys to actions. Link is included in my post above.
