Hi, I’m just starting my journey, hoping to eventually create a 2 player retro arcade unit. Right now I’m just testing on my home monitor that has HDMI inputs and is wide screen (and a lot more expensive than what I want to use for this project). A few questions, how much should I care about getting a 4:3 vs. widescreen monitor? From what I can see most 4:3 (maybe all) don’t have HDMI, so I’ll need an adapter. Does it really matter if I have VGA vs. DVI vs. component?

Any thoughts about selecting a relatively cheap monitor that will minimize headaches?
