I’ve installed the current retropie image from the website and snes and nes work great, but I can’t get any genesis roms to show up. The roms are unzipped, .smd files and I’m putting them in the mastersystem-genesis folder in the roms directory. I’ve seen some mention of somehow editing the emulationstation/es_systems.cfg folder, but when I SSH in (through mac osx and cyberduck) there is no such file there. Can anyone offer assistance or is there a guide that can help me?

    The file is in
    /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

There should be a “megadrive” folder for your genesis games
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadrive

they are genesis roms and ive tried putting them in the mastersystem folder and the folder named mastersystem-genesis, neither shows up.

When I navigate to /home/pi/.emulationstation/ all i see is:

    downloaded_images (folder)
    es_input.cfg
    es_log.txt
    es_settings.cfg
    gamelists (folder)

    there is no es_systems.cfg

    The file is in:
    /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

    the genesis roms go in
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadrive

Genesis is the North American name for the Megadrive.
